Lumineers - Porcelain Veneers

Family & Cosmetic Dentist Serving Centennial, Highlands Ranch, & Lone Tree, Colorado

Porcelain veneers are a very popular cosmetic dentistry treatment. They are wafer-thin pieces of dental enamel that are placed on the front of the tooth in order to hide imperfections and create a bright, beautiful smile. Woman holding porcelain veneers up to her teeth to match the shade

Here at Scavuzzo Dental Care, we offer Lumineers, a brand of porcelain veneer that requires little to no tooth preparation. Lumineers are widely used and well regarded, and our patients have been very happy with their results.

If you are interested in improving your smile through Lumineers, call us today at 303-741-2727 to schedule your consultation. We serve patients in Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and nearby areas of Colorado.

Benefits of Lumineers

Lumineers can correct a number of different cosmetic dental issues, including:

  • Severe discoloration
  • Chips or cracks
  • Crookedness
  • Gaps or crowding

If your teeth are so discolored that whitening doesn’t work, or if whitening isn’t an option due to teeth sensitivity, porcelain veneers can help. In fact, porcelain veneers are often used for patients with tetracycline stains, since those cannot be removed through whitening.

Orthodontic issues can also often be corrected through Lumineers. If you have severely misaligned teeth, it may be better to actually get them corrected through braces or ClearCorrect. However, for more minor cases of misalignment, Lumineers can help.

Lumineers vs Other Porcelain Veneers

In addition to being able to correct many cosmetic issues, Lumineers have a major benefit over other types of porcelain veneers. They don’t require the same kind of extensive prep work that other porcelain veneers do.

Normally, when you get porcelain veneers, your dentist will warn you that they are irreversible because the natural teeth will need to be significantly filed down. Lumineers are so thin that they can be placed with little to no prep, meaning more of your natural tooth can be preserved.

How Long Do Lumineers Last?

Lumineers can last for a long time with proper care. You won’t need to replace them unless they get stained, damaged, or fall off. As long as you take good care of your teeth, your Lumineers should keep your smile beautiful for decades.

Common reasons Lumineers may need to be replaced include:

  • Tooth decay
  • Damage from poor dental habits, such as chewing on pencils or using your teeth as tools
  • An accident that causes trauma to the face

By far the most common reason that Lumineers may fall off is because of tooth decay. Cavities underneath the veneers can lead to less surface area to bond to, which in turn causes loosening. You can help prevent tooth decay through practicing good oral hygiene, such as:

  • Brushing twice a day
  • Flossing at least once a day
  • Avoiding a lot of sugary foods and drinks
  • Avoiding sticky foods such as toffee or caramel
  • Rinsing your mouth with water after eating
  • Visiting Scavuzzo Dental Care regularly for dental checkups and deep cleanings

How Much Do Lumineers Cost?

The price of Lumineers can vary depending on the extent and complexity of your individual needs. Dr. Scavuzzo will be happy to give you an exact quote during your consultation, after he has determined a plan that will best meet your dental goals.

Unfortunately, since Lumineers are considered a purely cosmetic treatment, it is unlikely that they will be covered by dental insurance. However, here at Scavuzzo Dental Care we offer financing for cosmetic dental services in order to help all of our patients get the smile they’ve dreamed about. Ask us about our financing options during your consultation, and we’ll walk you through your options and answer your questions.
